Who Is Cyrene in HSR and How Important Is She in Amphoreus? Explained

Amphoreus has many secrets that are yet to unravel for the Trailblazer, and among them are characters that have only made a brief appearance. One such character who is likely tied to the entire Amphoreus arc, from inception to the end, is Cyrene. She has already been featured in the Amphoreus trailers and briefly appeared in the game during Phainon’s backstory of Aedes Elysiae. Her connection to Phainon, and her being related to one of the most popular characters from Honkai Impact 3rd universe makes Cyrene one of the most important characters in the Amphoreus arc. So, who is she? Here is everything we currently know about Cyrene in Honkai Star Rail, alongside a touch of theory crafting.

Although we know very little about Cyrene in Honkai Star Rail at the moment, we know that she is from Aedes Elysiae and a childhood friend of Phainon. She is the first person who was shown to name Phainon as the Deliverer, someone who will save and protect the world of Amphoreus. At the very end of this interaction, we see Cyrene with a sword wound, indicating that she was either injured or killed during Phainon’s childhood. In the HSR 3.1 mission, we further get clarification that the black cloaked warrior, Flame Reaver of the Deep Dark, was also responsible for the destruction of Aedes Elysiae and the murder of Cyrene.

Although we never get confirmation that this person is Cyrene, her name drop in the HSR 3.1 trailblazing mission and the names mentioned during the Amphoreus trailer point her to be Cyrene.

Elysia is one of the most popular characters from Honkai Impact 3rd and part of the biggest update of the game’s history. She was part of the thirteen Flame-chasers, a group of heroes assembled to fight the Honkai. Honkai Star Rail players can already start to draw comparisons between both these scenarios as the pursuit of getting the coreflames in Amphoreus is also called the Flame-chasing journey and there are 12 heroes shown so far, excluding Cyrene.

Now, Elysia was not just a member of the thirteen Flame Chasers; she was also the co-loader and ranked 2nd among them, just behind Kevin Kaslana. She was also the 13th Herrscher of the previous era and she sacrificed herself to break the Cocoon of Finality from the Herrschers, so that the Herrschers in the future could make their own decisions without getting influenced by the Cocoon. To summarize everything up, she was the reason behind the inception of the main characters of the Honkai Impact 3rd — Raiden Mei, Kiana Kaslana, and Bronya Zaychik.

Cyrene and Elysia look exactly the same and like how Acheron was the Expy of Raiden Mei, Cyrene is also the Expy of Elysia in Honkai Star Rail. This was pretty much confirmed by the HSR authors in one of the version livestreams when they spoke about meeting familiar faces experiencing their stories in a different way.

Now, Cyrene’s connection to Elysia makes her very important in Amphoreus, and she might also be at the center of everything. That’s because Phainon is also an Expy of Kevin Kaslana, and having both of them together in this arc, and the name Flame-chasing journey, points toward the same.

So, that’s everything we currently know about Cyrene in Honkai Star Rail. If Honkai Star Rail really does bring back the Elysian Realm arc from Honkai Impact 3rd in Amphoreus, then we are in for a wild ride ahead. Tell us your theories about Cyrene and the Amphoreus in the comment section below.
